More About Me

I've been described the human equivalent of the BASF commercial from the late 90's. "We don't make a lot of the products you buy, we make a lot of the products you buy, better."

As an exercise in self-discovery I took the Gallup CliftonStrenghts assessment and my strengths are: Activator, Restorative, Responsibility, Empathy, and Strategic.

These strengths make me well suited for back-end development and "DevOps" work with developer productivity and experience in mind. In practice as developer I spend time:

  • aligning myself with the business's needs,
  • understanding the customer's pain,
  • automating and improving deployments,
  • tracking metrics, and creating dashboards,
  • wrangling event streams,
  • writing documentation,
  • and scaling up data-stores

I am cloud agnostic, although I'm drawn to AWS CDK these days. Python, Docker, Postgresql, Jenkins, Celery, RabbitMQ, and Ansible are my favourite tools.
